Description
The purpose of the role is to facilitate and safely execute all aspects of Electrical & HV onsite maintenance, optimising the use of the departmental resources to achieve reliability targets whilst ensuring work is completed, within a timely manner to meet with plant production, and schedules.

Requirements and expertise
- Adopt a flexible and pro-active approach to planning & executing multiple maintenance activities including, specification and procurement of materials and equipment, plant change/project work as required supporting colleagues & effectively communicating feedback on work status to operations and maintenance teams
- As part of the MOWP work with the Planner/Scheduler to prioritise the use of maintenance resources considering total departmental workload, providing horizontal & vertical cover to safely drive maintenance works through to completion to meet with the timeframes set by production schedules, inclusive of Statutory inspections, PdM, Preventive and reactive works.
- Demonstrate ownership for the site, working closely with the Maintenance Team Leader, also Engineers as and when required, reviewing maintenance schedules & working practices to continuously improve site reliability & minimise downtime.
- Manage all work with a professional approach to optimise revenue expenditure; follow recognised site procedures for efficient control of maintenance workloads within Electrical/HV department, challenging work scopes to ensure efficiency and value for money is achieved.
- Support maintenance administration to ensure that departmental tasks are technically completed, job history is recorded, financial allocation is supported within required timeframes.
- Review pre-task risk assessments for discipline work activities, sub-contractors & third-party vendors.
- Temporary scheduling and work allocation of the Instrument maintenance technicians during any unforeseen absences.
- Support the engineers in the development of electrical maintenance procedures, best practices, MOC’s, and E/I documentation.
- Coaching and mentoring of technicians/Apprentice’s knowledge through continuous development.
Personal skills
Education
- Minimum NVQ Level 3/ONC or equivalent qualification in discipline engineering
Work experience
- Essential:
- Served a recognised discipline related Apprenticeship
- CompEx 01-04,
- Experience with, VSD/VFD and motor control systems
- Initial verification and periodic inspection of electrical systems
- Experience with troubleshooting and Maintenance of PLCs
- Conversant with reading and understanding of SLDs, schematic and P&IDs
- Desirable:
- 5 years’ post training experience on a top tier COMAH Site.
- CompEx 05-06
- HV Switching and operations experience
Critical Competencies
- Strong technical understanding of Electrical standards & best practices in particular heavy industry, Petro-Chemical, Oil & Gas sector.
- Capability to co-ordinate multiple tasks within a diverse working environment is required.
- Capable of demonstrating a flexible and pro-active approach to maintenance activities.
- IT Literate, specifically with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (ideally SAP) and Microsoft.
Terms & Conditions
- We offer an attractive compensation package, which includes a competitive starting salary, plus a non-pensionable disturbance allowance once qualified, and participation in the Company’s discretionary short-term incentive (bonus) programme. Currently the full year target for this position is 6% of base salary.
