Description
The Electrical Power Technician is responsible for the safe, reliable, and compliant execution of maintenance, inspection, and repair activities on the site’s electrical power systems. The role supports reliable plant operation, works closely with maintenance teams, operations, and external contractors, and ensures compliance with all relevant standards and safety regulations.
Responsibilities and accountability
Requirements and expertise
- Execution of grid switching operations and network modifications up to 110 kV
- Carrying out maintenance, inspections, and servicing activities on electrical power systems (transformers, HV, MV & LV switchgear, circuit breakers, cable systems, protection devices, etc.)
- Performing DGUV V3 inspections and legally required periodic safety inspections
- Repair and troubleshooting of power supply systems
- Installation of high-voltage cable terminations and joints; handling of fiber optic cables and data cabling systems
- Coordination and supervision of external contractors, including the establishment of safe working areas (as the person responsible for the electrical installation)
- Maintenance and updating technical documentation
Personal skills
Education
- Successfully completed technical vocational training, ideally as an electrician, electrical technician,
electronics technician, similar qualification; further training as a master craftsman
(German Meister qualification) or state-certified technician is desirable - Additional training as a medium-voltage/high-voltage cable installer is desirable
Work experience
- Experience in a chemical/petrochemical environment
- Knowledge of relevant VDE standards (0100, 0105-100, 0165)
- Basic knowledge of power quality
- Experience in the maintenance of electrical power systems
