Description

The Mass Balance Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency and reliability of material and utility balances for the Berre site and its associated external storage terminals.

The role coordinates monthly material balances, inventory movements, stock adjustments, utility balances and annual physical inventory activities. It also supports the monitoring of consignation stocks, logistics subcontracting costs, vessel approval before unloading at the Port de La Pointe, and the development of reporting tools used to improve visibility of unit performance.

The scope includes the Berre Additives units as well as the external storage terminals CHANE, IGLOM and SILOMAR.

Responsibilities and accountability

Requirements and expertise

  • Manage the monthly material balances for the Additives units and associated external storage facilities in accordance with LyondellBasell Finance and Infineum Global Mass Balance processes.
  • Coordinate monthly utility balances for transmission to the Finance department.
  • Coordinate the posting in the LyondellBasell SAP system of raw material consumptions purchased by LyondellBasell and resold to Infineum.
  • Record all inventory movements in the Infineum SAP system, including production declarations, consumption, goods receipts, write-on/write-off and stock transfers.
  • Identify weight discrepancies during raw material receipts and inform the Raw Material Coordinator for supplier claims.
  • Control and analyse transfers, gains, losses and other inventory variances for products stored at Berre and at external storage terminals.
  • Prepare a monthly report on stock adjustments in tonnes and USD.
  • Identify postings with a financial value above USD 100K and obtain Infineum financial approval before validation.
  • Maintain an effective LBSF/Infineum working relationship in a collaborative and partnership-oriented manner.
  • Propose improvements to optimise material balance processes.
  • Develop and maintain Excel and PI tools required for daily monitoring and analysis.
  • Maintain strict control over inventory movements and identify unexplained losses, variances or abnormal consumption.
  • Initiate corrective actions when discrepancies are identified.
  • Monitor yields and variances across the Additives units.
  • Track daily inventory movements at external storage terminals and update related Excel monitoring tools.
  • Control the compliance of stock movements posted in SAP by IBM for the CHANE and SILOMAR terminals.
  • Post inventory movements in SAP for the IGLOM external storage terminal.
  • Coordinate sample collection and required analyses between storage terminals, transport providers, the laboratory and production assistants.
  • Coordinate transfers between the Berre site, transport companies and external storage terminals.
  • Communicate loading instructions and associated documentation to storage terminals, including planning documents, certificates of analysis, SPLN and CMR documentation.
  • Organise quarterly yield review meetings with production assistants and Infineum Contact Engineers.
  • Initiate updates to theoretical budgets.
  • Participate in the annual review of Bills of Materials with the Infineum Manufacturing Analyst, production assistants and Infineum Contact Engineers.
  • · Provide support to the Operations Manager and production assistants for specific studies and analyses.
  • Prepare all information required for the annual legal physical inventory.
  • Communicate inventory procedures to unit managers.
  • Schedule annual inventory opening and closing meetings with relevant stakeholders and the appointed audit firm.
  • Coordinate sampling and tank gauging activities with the audit firm at the CHANE storage terminal.
  • Post validated annual inventory adjustments in SAP.
  • Manage material accounting for Olefins stocks for customs reporting.
  • Verify vessel certificates of analysis before unloading at the Port de La Pointe.
  • Monitor vessels and received quantities in support of supplier claims.
  • Provide backup support to the Raw Material Coordinator depending on team workload.
  • Maintain and update quality procedures related to the position.
Personal skills

Education

  • Minimum two-year higher education qualification in production management, logistics or a comparable field.
  • An equivalent level of professional experience may also be considered.

Work experience

  • Experience in production management, international trade and/or logistics.
  • Operational experience in an industrial environment would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of production management processes, including MRP matrices.
  • Knowledge of the Additives manufacturing process would be beneficial.
  • Good understanding of inventory management, stock movements and material balance processes.
  • Experience coordinating logistics activities involving external storage terminals and transport providers would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of SAP R3.
  • Advanced command of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, conditional functions and VBA.
  • Ability to retrieve and analyse data using PI.
  • Basic knowledge of finance.
  • Knowledge of site HSEQ requirements.
  • Ability to draft and maintain HSEQ procedures related to the role.
  • Good command of English.
