Description
The Power Supply Design Engineer is responsible for technical planning, design, and project support of modifications, expansions, and modernization projects related to the site’s electrical power supply systems. The position ensures power system stability, compliance with applicable standards and regulations, and efficient project execution. In addition, the role supports day-to-day maintenance, inspection, testing, and repair activities on the site’s electrical power installations, contributing to safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
Responsibilities and accountability
Requirements and expertise
- Planning and design of electrical power supply systems
- Preparation of technical specifications, electrical schematics, and power system calculations
- Supporting projects from the concept phase through commissioning
- Planning and coordination of maintenance and inspection programs
- Analysis of power quality and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements
- Performing switching operations affecting the electrical network up to 110 kV
- Coordination and supervision of external contractors, including the establishment of safe work areas as the Person Responsible for Electrical Installations
- Integration of data networks, fiber optic infrastructure, and industrial bus systems
- Supporting digitalization and modernization projects
- Performing maintenance, inspections, testing, and servicing of electrical power systems, including transformers, high-voltage, medium-voltage, and low-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, cable systems, protection devices, and related equipment
- Performing DGUV V3 inspections and legally required periodic electrical inspections
- Troubleshooting, fault analysis, and repair of electrical power systems
Personal skills
Education
- Certified Master Electrician (German Meister qualification), State-Certified Electrical Engineering Technician, or a completed bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
Work experience
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in an industrial power supply environment
- Professional experience as a design engineer, planner, or project manager
- Knowledge of relevant VDE standards and regulations (e.g. VDE 0100, VDE 0105-100, VDE 0165)
- Knowledge of power quality requirements and standards (certified EMC specialist (VdS), certified Power Quality specialist (VDE)
- Experience with data networks, fiber optic communication, industrial bus protocols, and maintenance of electrical power systems
