The Site Process Safety Engineer ensures safe and compliant operation of manufacturing facilities at the Münchsmünster site. The role focuses on process safety management, including hazard and risk analysis (LOPA/HAZOP), Management of Change (MOC), and project support in close collaboration with operations, process engineering, production, and maintenance teams.
The position drives the implementation and exchange of best practices, partners with Corporate HSEQ(S), and supports corporate initiatives. Furthermore, the role is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable legal and company requirements and acts as a key contact for process safety matters, including external service providers on site. The position also leads investigations of process safety incidents.
Requirements and expertise
- Support manufacturing in resolving process safety issues across polymerization, monomer production, extrusion, and solids handling operations
- Contribute to process hazard analyses and risk assessments ensuring safe and compliant project execution
- Support and ensure effective implementation of the Management of Change (MOC) process
- Promote and implement best practices and technical solutions across the site
- Participate in internal and external process safety networks to transfer and apply best practices
- Monitor and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal process safety standards
- Contribute to pragmatic implementation of Operational Excellence (OE) standards balancing safety and economic aspects
- Lead and support investigation of process safety incidents and derive preventive measures
- Stay up to date with new technologies and innovations in process safety
- Conduct regular safety walks and support site safety initiatives (e.g., NEZ team)
- Act as subject matter expert for explosion prevention and facility siting, including responsibility for explosion protection documentation
- Serve as Process Safety Onboarding Focal Point at site
Education
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a comparable technical qualification (University or Technical College)
Work experience
- 5–8 years of relevant professional experience in process engineering, operations, or maintenance
- Preferably experience in instrumentation & electrical engineering or process engineering
- Solid knowledge in process safety, including:
- Risk assessment and hazard analysis
- Explosion prevention
- Handling of flammable liquids and combustible dust
- Mechanical integrity
- Familiarity with German and EU regulations and standards related to process safety
- Good knowledge of internal company standards and guidelines
