Description

The E&I Maintenance Specialist ensures the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the electrical and instrumentation systems within the Cracker and HDPE production facilities. The role is responsible for planning and coordinating maintenance, repair, servicing, and modification activities, thereby making a significant contribution to plant availability, operational safety, and technical reliability.
Acting as a key interface between Operations, Maintenance, internal technical departments, and external contractors, the E&I Maintenance Specialist supports the Head of AEI and drives the continuous improvement of work processes, technical standards, and maintenance strategies.

Responsibilities and accountability

Requirements and expertise

  • Responsibility for the maintenance and servicing of the electrical and instrumentation systems at the Cracker and HDPE production facilities
  • Planning, coordination, and supervision of maintenance activities, plant shutdowns, and turnarounds
  • Analysis of equipment failures and implementation of measures to improve plant availability and reliability
  • Ensuring up-to-date technical documentation and compliance with quality, site-specific, and safety standards
  • Coordination and management of external contractors, including monitoring of performance, quality, and safety
  • Supporting technical projects, plant optimization initiatives, and root cause analyses
  • Responsibility for spare parts management, material availability, and cost control within the assigned area
  • Ensuring compliance with all HSE requirements and applicable legal regulations
Personal skills

Education

  • Completed vocational training as an Electrician, Electronics Technician, or in a comparable electrical trade
  • Further qualification as a Master Craftsman (German Meister) or State-Certified Technician (Techniker) in Electrical Engineering or a comparable field
  • Alternatively, a completed Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

Work experience

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in maintenance, ideally within the refining, chemical, or petrochemical industry
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering as well as measurement, control, and instrumentation technology
  • Experience in planning, coordinating, and supervising maintenance activities
