Description

The Technical Equipment Management Specialist contributes to improving the technical availability, reliability and maintainability of equipment within the Additives area at the Berre site.

The role manages equipment-related activities across an assigned geographical area, ensuring compliance with HSE requirements while optimising maintenance costs and long-term asset performance.

The position covers preventive maintenance, maintenance methods, reliability, maintainability, technical projects, documentation management and support to maintenance execution teams.

Responsibilities and accountability

Requirements and expertise

  • Act as the key contact for preventive maintenance activities within the assigned area.
  • Develop and update preventive maintenance plans and related maintenance tasks in SAP.
  • Ensure that maintenance work instructions and intervention procedures are properly integrated and updated in SAP.
  • Identify and estimate major maintenance, refurbishment and equipment reconstruction activities.
  • Conduct audits to verify that contractors apply the required technical standards and best practices.
  • Coordinate and monitor corrective actions resulting from audits, hazard studies, HEMP reviews and certification assessments.
  • Ensure that equipment files, technical documentation, procedures and operating manuals are complete and up to date.
  • Ensure that maintenance histories are correctly recorded in SAP or other relevant systems.
  • Act as the SAP focal point for equipment management activities.
  • Act as the Gédotec focal point and ensure that technical drawings are kept up to date.
  • Monitor maintenance action plans and performance indicators.
  • Define the annual planning of legal, regulatory and metrology-related activities.
  • Analyse recommendations and propose appropriate corrective actions.
  • Contribute to process efficiency improvement studies and implement maintenance best practices.
  • Act as the focal point for purchasing-related generic actions, including contracts and SAP processes.
  • Improve equipment maintainability, particularly for critical and vital equipment.
  • Optimise the stock of specific spare parts.
  • Identify recurring equipment failures and technical “bad actors” using information from maintenance and field teams.
  • Carry out reliability studies in collaboration with technical experts, mechanical specialists, reliability engineers, technology teams, corrosion specialists and civil engineering teams.
  • Investigate the root causes of equipment failures and define the resulting corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure that equipment is operated under appropriate conditions and coordinate corrective actions with Operations.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting activities.
  • Initiate maintenance modification requests and monitor Maintenance Management of Change processes.
  • Review and assess the technical feasibility of modification requests initiated by other departments.
  • Act as the Engineering contact for projects, including technical reviews, maintainability assessments, work acceptance and documentation updates.
  • Ensure that project-related technical documents are updated in both paper and SAP systems.
  • Support the implementation of new tools and associated training.
  • Act as the focal point for highly technical service requests.
  • Prepare and plan technical maintenance activities when required.
  • Support equipment and material procurement, including technical specifications, supplier identification and price research.
  • Provide technical support to Maintenance Technical Specialists.
  • Provide temporary backup for maintenance and digital technology technical roles when required.
  • Analyse operational priorities and propose the appropriate balance between short-term needs, long-term reliability, HSE requirements and cost objectives
Personal skills

Education

  • Two- or three-year higher education qualification in instrumentation, control systems, industrial automation or a comparable technical field.
  • A BTS CIRA, DUT or equivalent professional experience is required

Work experience

  • Practical or theoretical knowledge of preventive and corrective equipment maintenance.
  • Relevant field experience in an industrial environment, particularly in instrumentation, process analysis or electrical systems.
  • Good knowledge of equipment operation, degradation mechanisms, condition monitoring and maintenance interventions.
  • Experience with industrial maintenance methods, equipment reliability and asset management.
  • Experience using SAP for maintenance plans, equipment history and technical documentation.
  • Good command of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience with technical documentation and drawing management systems such as Gédotec.
  • Knowledge of purchasing and procurement processes would be an advantage.
  • Technical written English is required.
